What is Blackboard?

Blackboard is a web-based software program that is used to support flexible teaching and learning in face-to-face and distance courses. It provides tools and facilities for online course management, content management and sharing, assessment management, and online collaboration and communication. Blackboard allows professors to post grades, information, and assignments in an online course setting.

Blackboard at Roosevelt

Every course that is scheduled for each semester gets a Blackboard course site created. Once a course is in Banner, faculty are assigned to the course. As students register, they are automatically enrolled in their Blackboard course sites. That information is then sent to the secure off-site server, a private portal for Roosevelt students and faculty.
